Coin Collection and National Pride

coin collectionI was just checking out the United States’ Wikipedia page, which I must say, is pretty impressive. It gives a comprehensive summary of everything from politics to history to geography to art and culture. It’s authoritative and it clearly establishes the United States as a global leader and empire both in terms of written tone and prominent facts. Similarly,  our currency also symbolizes and reflects such greatness.

Take a look at the quarter, or even the penny; there were and still are some people who advocate for the penny’s abolition. But, the fact that we still have a coin for our smallest denomination shows our national pride, as well as our dedication to coin collecting. A United States without a penny is a United States past its prime. It only makes sense that our coins reflect our prestige and excellence as global leader. From Washington’s profile to the bald eagle’s symbolism, our quarter is rich with meaning. Flip the new ones over to see one of gorgeous national parks or representative pictures of our great fifty states.

A country’s coin collection reflects largely onto its sense of self. Here’s hoping coin collectors continue to find excitement in American coin collecting.
